Types Of Volcanic Eruptions

There are many types of volcanic eruptions. Each of these types of volcanic eruptions can be equally dangerous and scary and this is why it is very important that you make yourself aware of what they are so as to make sure that you will be able to tell whether or not they will be able to affect you or your place.

Strombolian types of volcanic eruptions are those that show large clots of lava that are molten in a burst. This means that from the crater of the volcano, you will get to see many different kinds of luminous arcs. Although they are really nice to look at, these luminous arcs are very dangerous as they contain lava. The molten lava will then stream down the volcano slopes and creates scary fiery streams. An example of these types of volcanic eruptions is the eruption of the Irazu Volcano in 1965. Irazu Volcano can be found in Costa Rica.

Vulcanian types of volcanic eruptions are those that show a huge cloud of ash. The vulcanian eruptions also pertains to the volcanic gas explosions that rises way up above the peak of the volcano itself. In a nutshell, these types of volcanic eruptions are those that are mostly composed of ash. The most famous example of a vulcanian eruption will be the 1947 eruption of Paricutin Volcano.

If you see a cauliflower shaped ash clouds above a volcano, these are called Vesuvian types of volcanic eruptions. These are the types that are not very common. Here, the volcano will release a huge amount of ash upwards and can be seen on the top of the peak of the entire volcano. Example of a Vesuvian eruption would be the 1944 explosion of Mount Vesuvius in Italy.

The Palean types of volcanic eruptions are also called glowing cloud eruptions. This is because here, you will get to see a huge amount of ash, gas, dust, and even lava fragments being released at the center of the crater of the volcano. The worst part about these types of volcanic eruptions is that it mostly comes with fast moving molten lava that can move around 100 miles per hour. An example of a Palean eruption will be the 1968 eruption of the perfect cone shaped Mayon Volcano in the Philippines.

Hawaiian types of volcanic eruptions, on the other hand, are those that show linear vents. There are the ones that can show fissure type of eruptions that can contain incandescent lava flow and streams. As the name implies, the most common Hawaiian eruptions can be seen in Hawaii. These eruptions were seen in the 1950 eruption of Mauna Loa Volcano and the 1959 eruption of the Kilauea Iki Crater of the Kilauea Volcano, both in Hawaii.

No matter what kinds of eruptions you may experience or see, it is still a must that you steer clear of the path that the lava flow can take. Destruction will be present, no matter where the lava flows and you don’t want to be one of the causalities of these kinds of eruptions.
