Types Of Diseases Transmission

There are so many types of diseases transmission which affect the body system. Most of them are caused by bacteria, fungus, or viral infections. This article is going to present some of the most common types of diseases transmission, their causes and control.

Before transmission occurs, the following things must be present:

* A susceptible host

* The means by which transmission will occur

* The source where the microorganism infects

For infection to be prevented, one of the elements must be eliminated

Types of diseases transmission – infectious elements

There are some types of diseases transmission that are due to micro-organisms already existing in the human body. These infections are known as endogenous infections. There are other types of diseases transmission that are transmitted by external factors which are referred to as exogenous infections. Those organisms that infect the body from the environment prefer to enter the body through the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. The mucus membranes and intact skin that are found in the genitourinary, gastrointestinal, and respiratory tracts are responsible for providing protection to the body against such external types of diseases transmission. If this protection or coverage is penetrated or exposed, then the microorganism might have easy access to the body systems.

For a disease transmission to occur, pathogen will need to be transmitted from a source or reservoir to the targeted host. And most types of diseases transmission occur from one person to another, referred to as horizontal transmission. However, there are some transmissions that occur from the mother to the baby which is known as vertical transmission. The horizontal types of diseases transmission can happen through contact transmission involving either indirect or direct contact with the source or reservoir.

The direct contacts are those contacts involving the exposure of body and skin secretions. Also, there are transmissions that can take place from one section of the body to another.
