When we refer to blood stains, though many people do not know this but, there are various types of blood stains that exist and are analyzed. Have you ever seen how investigators and detectives collect blood stains on some shows and seal them in a small bag? These guys use these types of blood stains in order to determine some information about the person who must have bled. Similarly the doctor may analyze the types of blood stain to be able to tell why one is bleeding or such like. So different types of blood stains are analyzed and considered for different purposes.
One of the many types of blood stains is known as blood spatter. If you step into a puddle you would see that the water splatters out in a certain pattern- in the form of tiny droplets. The types of blood stain are similar to those droplets of water. One of these types of blood stains is the low velocity blood splatter and what happens in these cases is that the blood splatters as it does as a result of dripping blood, rather than spread blood or anything of the sort. The drop of blood may fall and break into tinier blood droplets. When an injury gets stabbed or shot, these types of blood stains can be found at the crime scene and as a result the person who has been injured this way would also have a wound.
Then there are those types of blood stains that are referred to as medium-velocity spatter which are usually found at crime scenes where the injured (or deceased) party is hit with a blunt object or something like a bat. What happens in these cases is that when the arteries can get injured and ruptured as a result of the object hitting a person on a particular spot or area. If the artery is damaged and the victim is hit again, the heart pumps blood faster and as a result the victim loses even more blood which is why he may even die due to loss of excessive amounts of blood. The blood spatter is usually distinctive and different from the previous mentioned types of blood stains. Quite a lot of blood loss results in such blood stains. These types of blood stains are also known as projected blood.
Of the three types of blood stains mentioned here, the third is high velocity blood spatter which usually occur due to bullets. These types of blood stains are exerted due to the impact of an extreme amount of force. In some cases the three types of blood stains may even overlap and you would be able to see all three types of blood stains and this is why at some crime scenes it can be difficult to determine what exactly happened.
These are the three primary types of blood stains that are analyzed when looking at a crime scene or determining what may have happened at a crime scene too.
