Types Of Blood Cells

Before you get a blood transfusion, there are two things you should know – your blood type and the types of blood cells. This is because of the fact that different instances will need different kinds of blood transfusion. Also, different kinds of blood types will mean different types of blood cells. This is why it is very important for everyone to get to know and understand these things.

The red blood cells are the types of blood cells that makes the blood red, as the name implies. They are the ones that make sure that from the lungs, oxygen is transported to the entire body. They are also the ones that are responsible for taking out the carbon dioxide. This is why they are one of the most important types of blood cells as they play a vital role in making sure that we function right. The red blood cells take up roughly 50% of the entire blood composition. This is how important they are in the normal blood functions.

The white blood cells are the types of blood cells are the ones who first respond to any kinds of problems in the blood. They are the ones that carry the components that fight fungi, bacteria and viruses that are present in the blood too. However, even with so much responsibility, these white types of blood cells are only roughly 1% of the entire blood composition. Not many people know that these white blood cells are not only seen in the blood, though. They can also be seen working in the liver, spleen, and even in the lymph glands.

The platelets are the types of blood cells that contain the clotting chemicals in the blood. They are also called thrombocytes and they make sure that they are able to release coagulating chemicals in the blood to make sure that there will not be any internal bleeding in your system. Much like the white blood cells, there are not a lot of platelets in the blood composition as they are also less than 1%. They don’t work well all day long though. The platelets work really well in daytime rather than the night.

Plasma is the watery part of the blood. Like water, they are clear but are something tinted with yellow. Plasma is basically a solution with protein, fat, sugar, and salt. Being the most evident compared to all the types of blood cells, plasma takes up 55% of the entire blood composition. This is because they are the ones that carry around the red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. It has a very important responsibility too as it is the one responsible for the nourishment of the heart. It also contains blood clotting factors together with vitamins, hormones, minerals, lipids, enzymes, and other proteins. Indeed, although not much known by many people, plasma is one of the most important types of blood cells – even though the fact remains that all the many types of blood cells are equally important.
