Types Of Government Of The World

There are three major foundations upon which descriptions of types of government of the world can be described. A government can based on the type of economic system that the country has. There are governments that are based on a capitalist economy, a socialist economy and a communist economy.

Many types of government of the world are also based on their political systems and how they are run. Some governments can be dictatorships or they can be totalitarian governments. You can also have a theocracy or a monarchy and you can have a parliamentarian or presidential system of government.

There are some types of government of the world that are based on the authority of the person in the government or on the people that pick the government. Some governments can be called revolutionary or totalitarian governments while others might be called oligarchies, or plutocracy governments. Finally we have governments that are called democracies or a democratic republican government.

In defining the types of government of the world it is essential to remember that most countries have a system that is hybrid. This means that most governments use a combination of two systems. For example the United States which is a capitalist nation but the government still practices socialism and its citizens have certain services provided for.

While there are many types of government of the world in power today, about six types are predominant namely a democratic government, a socialist government, a republic government, a monarchial government, a dictatorship and a theocracy.

A capitalist system is a country with a free market economy and people have ownership of business and property. Services such as healthcare are also available in the free market for private use. Socialist governments control ownership of industries and provide services such as education, healthcare and welfare services and citizens play a part in some economic activities. In communist systems of, all business is in the control of the government and all services such as healthcare, education and welfare are controlled by the government.

Dictatorships are forms of government where one person has total control and my apply force to keep this control. Some leaders are elected and then become dictatorships and some come into power through coups. Others also come into power through a military takeover. A totalitarian government is a form of dictatorship and is a one party state. In such setups, people are forced to do what the government wishes.

In monarchies, kings or queens rule with unlimited power and this power is passed on to the family. In parliamentary systems, representatives of the people are elected and through political parties. One of them becomes the prime minister and the party remains in power as long as they have the majority. Republic governments are run by representatives of voters with each person getting voted for a period of time. Democratic governments are elected by the people, basically anyone who qualifies to vote with the population being given the opportunity to choose a government that they want.
