Types Of Graphs

What are the different types of graphs? Graphs are defined as representations of objects where objects that are related to each other are connected through links. They are mostly used in mathematics, especially in statistics, in interpreting the results of studies and research that one conducts. But do you know that there are many different types of graphs? There are at least 6 known types of graphs that you can use to represent data and information that you have gotten in your research.

Among the many types of graphs, the easiest one to make is the line graph. As the name implies, these are the types of graph that employ the use of just lines to connect the interrelated data. You see, in line graphs, you will be plotting different dips and peaks to your grid lines to make you see the difference in the data that you have collected. From professionals to students, line graphs are the types of graphs that are most commonly used and utilized.

The second of the six major types of graphs are the bar graphs. These graphs are also very easy to make, as they are just like the line graph only they are in a form of a bar. The main difference of the bar graphs to the line graphs is that they are very eye pleasing. You can easily compare and contrast the information and data that you have gathered and code them into different bar colors to indicate their important points. Under the bar graphs are the vertical, horizontal, group, and double types of graph.

Third of the six types of graphs are the pictorgraphs. These are the graphs that use pictures to represent the data that needs to be represented. These graphs are mostly used for the young audience, the ones who cannot read yet. The small pictures can effectively show the comparisons that are needed to show in your study and are very nice to look at as well. However, among all the types of graph, these are the types that are not liked by professionals the most as they are the least formal.

Then we have the pie charts. Pie charts or pie graphs are types of graphs that are in the shape of a pie. When it comes to data comparison, this is a known choice as you can easily split into different parts the circular pie itself.

Organizational charts or organizational graphs are the types of graphs that show relationships of the variables involved. These are often used to display the position of different people in an office or an organization, hence the name.

Lastly, we have flow charts. As the name implies, these are the types of graphs that display the flow of the study you are conducting. They showcase the information and data that you have gathered by breaking them down into baby steps so that you can paint a clearer picture to your audience. The most common components used in these graphs are shapes – although, there are many other components that can be used here.
